Murwillumbah Cup Calcutta supporting 'Kids on the Border Foundation'

As the nominated charity Tweed River Jockey Club have kindly agreed to donate 10% of all ticket sales to Kids on the Border Foundation.

Help Kids on the Border Foundation support more local kids by buying a ticket in the Calcutta for 2022 Murwillumbah Cup.

What's a Calcutta in our words?

A raffle then an auction really

• All tickets purchased ($5 each) will go into the raffle to be drawn out on Calcutta night at the Riverview Hotel on Thursday 18 August. The money from the ticket sales will form the "grand prize pool"

• At the raffle (known as a Calcutta) a ticket will be drawn for each horse in the Mur'bah Cup field  (generally about 18 horses)

• If your ticket in the raffle draws a horse, your horse will then be auctioned on the night and you will get 50% of the proceeds of the auction & the other 50% goes "grand prize pool"

• If you want to keep the horse you drew in the raffle to run in the Mur'bah Cup (so you have the opportunity to go for the "grand prize pool"), you can do so by paying only 50% of the auctioned price

• After all horses are auctioned, a final pool is declared (the "grand prize pool"), and the person who buys (or holds) the eventual winner of the 2022 Riverview Hotel Murwillumbah Cup collects 60% of the "grand prize pool", second place 20%, third place 10% and the final 10% goes to the buyer of the last place horse.

• Winnings will be transferred in to the nominated bank account before COB Monday 22nd of August 2022.
